The kratom community is, unfortunately, no stranger to marketing gimmicks, ploys, and even outright scams. From time to time, a kratom vendor will come up with some new buzz term, such as “horned” kratom, “dragon” kratom, or the like. And, almost always, it’s a feeble attempt to sell second-rate products to unsuspecting customers.
So, “hulu kratom”: is this a scam or a legit strain?
Here’s the short version: hulu kratom, also known as hulu kapuas kratom, is just Indo kratom. Although it’s often marketed as an extremely rare strain, there’s simply no legitimate difference between hulu kratom and more traditional, widely available Indo strains.
The Kratom Community is Full of Gimmick “Strains”
Unfortunately, the kratom industry is plagued with a growing number of counterfeit products, dishonest marketing ploys, and outright scams. At Kratom Spot, we’ve already covered a good number of them, including:
- Red Dragon Kratom
- Train Wreck Kratom
- Gold Bali Kratom
- Kratom Vape Products
- Red Horn Kratom
- Yellow Kratom
- Snortable Kratom
In all those cases, we exposed gimmicky, misleading, and even dangerous products and trends in the kratom industry.
So, is hulu kratom just another scam?
Where Does Hulu Kratom Come From?
Like most legitimate kratom strains, hulu kratom is (probably) named after the region of Southeast Asia where it is (supposedly) grown.
According to several vendors marketing this “unique strain” of kratom, hulu kratom comes from either:
- The Hulu forest along the Kapua river (in the Kalimantan region of Indonesia)
- Anywhere along the Kapua river
- Some mysterious, unpopulated island in Southeast Asia (whose supposed isolation accounts for this strain’s “rarity and mystique”)
There is such a region, known as the Kapuas Hulu Regency, in Indonesia. But that’s far from an unpopulated island, it’s not some exclusive forest, and it’s not from some special river.
This strain is just from Indonesia. And you know what kratom from Indonesia is and should be called? Indo Kratom.
What Vendors Say Makes Hulu Kratom Special
Take a look at the vendor pages selling hulu kratom. Overwhelmingly, you’ll get vaguely-worded descriptions that evoke the “rarity”, the “exclusivity”, of hulu kratom. What you won’t get is a description of what supposedly makes hulu kratom’s effects distinct from any other strain.
Granted, there are legal restrictions on what kratom vendors are allowed to claim about the products they sell. That, frankly, is one of the main reasons that kratom marketing scams have been able to thrive: because language about even legitimate strains must be vague, it’s sometimes hard to tell when you’re looking at a cash-grab gimmick.
When it comes to hulu kratom, the sad fact is that there’s nothing but vapid, misleading, and vaguely worded claims that really say nothing at all about the strain itself.
Bottom Line: There’s Simply Nothing Special About “Hulu Kratom”
Hulu kratom is not a legitimate strain. It’s a marketing ploy aimed at making a traditional Indo strain sound more appealing to customers who aren’t in the know.
The sad fact of the matter is that there is nothing special about kratom marketed as “hulu kratom”.
Any time you encounter a supposedly new strain, it’s important to be extremely skeptical. There’s no sense in wasting your time and money on a new strain based on vaguely-worded promises that it will deliver the moon.
Kratom is an extraordinarily versatile plant, and the real strains do offer meaningfully different experiences. But there’s not going to be some magnificent innovation where a miraculous new strain is discovered with truly unique properties.
The established strains of kratom are known, they’re widely discussed, and we know what they do. New, supposedly exceptional strains like hulu kratom? They’re almost always just another marketing scam.
