Gold Bali Kratom: Origins & Characteristics

Gold Bali Kratom Powder in a bowl

Gold Bali kratom, also known as “Bali gold kratom”, is an unusual strain that has been getting more attention in kratom communities of late. Some users swear by it, while others claim that it’s a pure marketing gimmick.

So what is gold Bali kratom, and is it right for you? The question may be more complicated than you think: as you’ll see below, there’s very little consistency about just what puts the “gold” in this unusual strain.

So, just as we did with our other kratom strain deep-dives, let’s get into the thick of it and discuss just what makes gold Bali kratom special.

What is Gold Bali Kratom?

With most strains of kratom, this would be a rather easy question to answer. With Bali gold kratom? Not so much.

As with most strains of kratom, the name is divided into two parts: a geographic point of origin and a color.

The Easy Question: The “Bali” of Gold Bali Kratom

The point of origin is simple enough to understand, and it holds true for gold Bali kratom just like it does for other strains.

Just as the name implies, Bali gold kratom is a strain of kratom with origins in the Bali region of Southeast Asia. The unique climate, soil acidity, and agricultural practices of that region create a kratom strain with a distinct alkaloid profile — and a resulting set of distinct effects.

However, not all Bali kratom is actually grown in Bali. By duplicating the growing conditions indigenous to Bali farms, kratom growers throughout Southeast Asia can produce kratom strains identical to those grown natively there.

Ultimately, there’s no discernible difference between a Bali kratom strain grown in Bali vs. one grown elsewhere in Indonesia or the rest of Southeast Asia. So long as the Bali kratom strains are grown by experienced, reputable farmers, users should enjoy a more or less consistent kratom experience regardless of the origin.

Here’s the Rub: What Puts the “Gold” in Bali Gold Kratom?

Unfortunately, there is very little consistency between different vendors’ strains of “Gold” Bali kratom. There are at least two common definitions for “gold” kratom strains, and vendors aren’t always clear on which they’re using.

What’s more, the two types of gold kratom will have wildly different effects, making it almost impossible for users to be certain of the quality and character of the products they’re consuming.

Gold Kratom as “Sun Dried”: One of the most common definitions for gold kratom is the result of sun-drying another strain, most often (but not always) red kratom.

Although the science on this process is still poorly understood, advocates will tell you that sun-drying kratom modifies the leaf’s alkaloid profile and effects. Specifically, they claim, it accelerates the breakdown of mitragynine and fosters a higher concentration of 7-hydroxymitragynine.

Certainly, there are farms that use this method, but the science behind it is unproven. According to popular theory, however, changing the alkaloid balance in this manner would reduce the strain’s energizing effects and increase its pain-fighting effects.

Note: If you’re looking for an ultra-potent kratom with above-average 7-hydroxymitragynine levels, consider our line of Ultra Kratom Powders, including our Ultra Bali, which should scratch the itch for anyone looking for gold Bali kratom.

Gold Kratom as a Mixture: The other common definition of gold kratom isn’t actually a strain or treatment at all. It’s a mixture of other kratom strains aimed at producing a specific set of effects.

As with “sun-dried” gold kratom, the effects can be inconsistent and unpredictable. But with mixtures, that risk is even higher; indeed, there’s virtually no consistency between the strains that are mixed together to create so-called “gold” Bali kratom.

Most often, these mixtures will be predominately based on a red vein kratom powder, which accounts for the darker hues that, when mixed with a green or white strain, can take on a gold appearance.

Fool’s Gold: The Problem With “Gold” Kratom

So what is gold vein kratom? Hard to say, as there’s very little consistency across vendors. There are at least two common definitions going around, and it’s not always clear which definition a given vendor is using.

Both types of gold kratom have one thing in common: gold kratom strains aren’t natural results of the kratom growth cycle; they are the result of deliberate modification after the fact.

Whether via a special curing and treatment process or via mixing strains, all “gold” kratom strains come from some sort of outside process. Depending on the process used, this will have an impact on the kratom’s potency or effects — but without knowing the exact process used, it’s virtually impossible to say what the effects of a given batch of gold kratom will be.

Why Doesn’t Kratom Spot Sell Gold Bali Kratom?

At Kratom Spot, we’re dedicated to being your #1 source for the world’s highest-quality kratom powder, capsules, and more. Part of that means stocking all of the most popular and effective strains from across the globe.

So why don’t we stock Gold Bali Kratom? Two simple reasons: because it’s not a genuine, natural strain of kratom; and because the term is used so inconsistently as to effectively be meaningless.

But if you’re looking for an extra-potent Bali kratom experience, don’t worry: we’ve got you covered. Our Ultra Bali Kratom is a naturally-occurring, single-strain kratom powder with truly exceptional alkaloid potency. If you’re looking for the gold-standard of Bali kratom, look no further.

If you do choose to shop for gold Bali kratom with another vendor, be sure to do your homework. With the wild inconsistencies in the labeling and marketing of this unusual product, you’ll never quite be sure what you’re getting. Be sure to do your research; your health and wellness aren’t worth the risk of using an inferior product.
