Kratom & Incense: Getting Started

Smoke rises from a brass incense burner

As people increasingly do their own research and decide that Kratom is right for them, interest is growing in Kratom incense as an easy way to explore the properties it offers. When done properly, Kratom powder incense is easy to use safely and provides an enjoyable aroma that fills the room.

What Is Kratom Incense?

A tropical evergreen tree native to Southeast Asia, Kratom, or Mitragyna speciosa, has been used by locals as a medicinal herb for centuries. The leaves are harvested from mature trees, then dried and ground into a fine powder. At that point, it can be further processed into a powerful extract, encapsulated, or sold in that raw powder form.

This powder is one of the most versatile ways to make use of Kratom. In powder form, Kratom mixes well into most solutions, can be decocted into a liquid that captures its active compounds, or used as a loose Kratom incense. As a powder, it can blend well with other powder incense to create a whole new mix tailored to your individual tastes.

Buying High-Quality Kratom

Finding the right Kratom doesn’t have to be difficult. It just takes finding a supplier you can trust. They need to work with local growers to ensure that they’re starting off with only the best plant matter. It needs to be processed and shipped to you in as short of a time frame as possible, that way it retains its peak potency. You want to work with a company that can deliver consistently good Kratom incense at a reasonable price.

Using Kratom As Incense

Decide when and where you want to use your Kratom incense powder. It should be someplace comfortable where you can relax in peace. Choose a room without pets and where no one is likely to wander through unexpectedly. Not everyone likes the scent of Kratom, and it should always be someone’s informed choice to be around Kratom smoke or not.

Choose the right time, when you’ll be uninterrupted and won’t be expected to drive anywhere or use machinery. Kratom incense can be extremely relaxing, and until you know the effect it has on you, you shouldn’t perform dangerous or judgment-based tasks while under its influence.

Set up your incense burner in an area free of loose paper, flammable liquids, or other fire hazards. Anytime you’re burning something, you should have a fire extinguisher or an adequate amount of water should the Kratom incense get knocked over or an ember gets wafted off the burner in a breeze. Part of responsibly researching Kratom first hand is making sure you have everything needed to do so safely.

Smoke curls up from a burning incense stick

Start with no more than 6 grams of Kratom. Most likely you will need a lot less, but 6 grams should give you a good, long burn with plenty of Kratom smoke in the air. Loose powders don’t always burn on their own, and a powder burner that allows you to pack the incense may be necessary. Alternatively, you can use a charcoal disk, often sold at New Age shops or for hookahs to provide a platform of steady heat for your Kratom incense.

If you find that the smell of raw Kratom powder incense is too strong, add in some powder incense of your favorite scent or a drop of essential oil away from flame or burning incense. There are limitless ways to make the burning of incense “your own”. Just find what works best for you and your needs.

It’s best to allow your incense to burn completely and extinguish on its own while you relax. If you do have to put it out early, start by separating unburnt powder from the heat if possible. That way you can try to save it for later. You’ll want to make sure any burning material is completely extinguished with water and no longer smoking or glowing before leaving it unattended. This can help prevent accidental reignition and the potential for an uncontrolled, unsupervised fire it represents.

Once it’s out and the ashes and cinders are cool, it can be disposed of in the trash safely. Remember to store your remaining Kratom properly in an airtight container placed in a cool, dark place out of the reach of children or pets.

Use Your Incense Correctly

It’s important to note that Kratom incense is sold for research purposes only. There are no recognized benefits of Kratom by the FDA, and it is not meant for consumption or ingestion. Never directly smoke Kratom powder or block off fresh air access while you’re using Kratom incense. Doing so can be potentially dangerous. Kratom is under increased scrutiny by regulators, so do your part as a responsible Kratom enthusiast.
