One of the more recent trends in the world of kratom is the creation of kratom cocktails. These drinks combine kratom powder or extract with other ingredients to create a tasty and, depending on your needs, either uplifting or relaxing beverage.
In this blog, we’ll explore the world of kratom cocktails, including how to make them, what ingredients to use, and what potential benefits they may offer.
Whether you’re a seasoned kratom user or just curious about this fascinating supplement, we hope to provide you with valuable information and inspiration for creating your own delicious kratom cocktails.
Word of Warning: Mixing Kratom and Alcohol
Kratom cocktails are hardly unusual. Many kratom users have shared recipes and stories about their positive experiences with alcoholic kratom cocktails.
That said, mixing kratom and alcohol may raise the possibility of nausea, stomach discomfort, or other adverse effects.
If you’re looking to make a kratom cocktail, consider making a kratom mocktail instead — that is, doing a “virgin” or non-alcoholic version.
If you decide to mix kratom with alcohol, we strongly recommend dramatically lowering the dose of both substances. You don’t want your relaxing kratom cocktail to cause discomfort and ruin the relaxing experience you’re looking for.
Kratom Cocktails Make Kratom More Delicious
Kratom is not usually known for tasting good. On its own, the taste of kratom is raw, bitter, and somewhat earthy in a way that many users find unappetizing.
One standard method is to mix kratom powder with a sweet or fruity juice to help mask the taste. Orange juice, grapefruit juice, and pineapple juice are popular choices. Some people also add honey or other sweeteners to their kratom drinks.
Another trick is to use a liquid kratom extract (see the DIY recipe below). This allows you to extract kratom’s alkaloids, which minimizes the taste of kratom while maximizing the dose’s effects.
Ultimately, the taste of a kratom drink will depend on personal preferences and the specific ingredients used. While some people may find kratom drinks delicious, others may find the taste challenging. It is important to keep in mind that the primary purpose of consuming kratom is not for its taste, but for its potential effects on the body and mind.
Kratom Liquid Extract Instructions
To make sure your kratom cocktails are thoroughly mixed and consistent, we need to extract your kratom alkaloids into a liquid form! And with this quick recipe, that’s surprisingly easy to do.
All of your kratom cocktails will be better off if you take this extra step — but if you’re in a rush, you can just mix kratom powder into your cup instead of this kratom liquid extract. If you do, just know that you’ll get some clumpage and will probably have to remix a few times as you drink.
Ingredients
- 2 or 3 cups of water
- ½ of a large, fresh lemon, or 2 – 2 ½ tablespoons lemon juice (you may use another acid, but we chose lemon juice for flavor)
- Your preferred strain of kratom powder
- Something to strain the finished tea, such as a tea strainer or a coffee filter
Instructions:
- Add the water to a saucepan, bring it just to a boil, then reduce to a simmer.
- Squeeze the half lemon into the simmering water, or add the 2 – 2 ½ tablespoons lemon juice.
- Ensure that the water is simmering and not boiling.
- Then, add your intended dose of kratom powder.
- Keep the tea mixture simmering for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring regularly.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat source, then carefully strain the tea to remove the kratom sediment.
- Allow the kratom-infused tea to cool.
Now you’re ready to make perfect kratom drinks whenever you like, without worrying about clumping or remixing.
Tropical Kratom Fruit Cocktail
Looking for a taste of tropical paradise? This delicious mix of pineapple, orange, and coconut is a delightful way to enjoy a taste of perfect island splendor, right from your own home. Adding kratom — or even a bit of dark rum — only sweetens the deal.
Ingredients:
- Your desired amount of kratom powder — or liquid kratom extract, per the above recipe
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup pineapple juice
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1 oz. coconut cream
- 1 oz. honey syrup
- 1 oz. dark rum (optional)
- Ice
Instructions:
- Pour the desired amount of liquid kratom extract into a cocktail shaker partially filled with ice. If using kratom powder, add the powder and water to the iced shaker instead.
- Add the pineapple juice, orange juice, coconut cream, honey syrup and dark rum to the kratom liquid. Stir well to combine.
- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and pour in the kratom and juice mixture. Shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds until well chilled.
- Strain the cocktail into a glass filled with ice.
- Garnish with a pineapple wedge or a sprig of mint.
Enjoy your refreshing kratom cocktail! Note that kratom can have sedative effects, which alcohol can compound. Absolutely do not drink a kratom cocktail before driving, operating machinery, or any other activity requiring precision of action or attention.
As always, it’s important to start only with small doses of kratom. You never know how a new combination will affect your body, and small doses are the best way to ensure you have an enjoyable, safe experience.
