‘Elephant’ Kratom Strains — More Than Hype?

Elephant Kratom Strains

With all of the various terms buzzing about the internet, it’s easy to lose track of the various kratom strains that are the current talk of the town. Trendy new buzz terms emerge and fade, and only a handful stick around.

One such kratom term that’s been getting serious hype recently? Elephant kratom.

Elephant kratom is getting a lot of attention — and according to some sources, it offers effects that are as big as the animals it’s named after.

But if you’ve spent any time in the kratom community, you’re likely to know the unfortunate truth: kratom buzz about fancy new strains is usually just hype and no real substance.

So, elephant kratom? Real deal, or just hype?

Is “Elephant” Kratom Even a Strain?

The simple fact of the matter is that elephant kratom is not a different strain of kratom.

So called “elephant kratom” is simply kratom made from particularly large leaves.

In fact, many products marketed as elephant kratom are from the same exact plant as non-elephants — but the larger leaves are set aside to be marketed as somehow special.

So no: Elephant kratom is not a different species or strain of kratom. It comes from exactly the same plants. The only difference is the size of the leaves that are selected for turning into powder.

Is Elephant Kratom Powder Better Than Traditional Kratom Powder?

This question is very difficult to answer. That’s because different vendors market different sorts of products as “elephant” kratom powder, and there’s very little consistency between different storefronts.

In most cases, elephant kratom leaves are taken from exactly the same plant as traditional kratom leaves.

When that’s the case, elephant kratom might be slightly, slightly more potent, as the size of the leaves might indicate that these particular ones were thriving during the growth phase.

It’s possible that some vendors are marketing truly special crops, where the entire plant is thriving such that each and every leaf is oh “elephantine” proportions.

In those instances, it’s possible that the increase may translate to a higher alkaloid content. But again, it’s virtually impossible to draw conclusions based on the marketing claims of random vendors.

In short: you might experience a slightly higher alkaloid profile from elephant kratom powder. But generally speaking, it’s not going to be a huge difference.

The Kratom Community is Full of Gimmick “Strains”

Unfortunately, the kratom industry is plagued with a growing number of counterfeit products, dishonest marketing ploys, and outright scams.

At Kratom Spot, we’ve already covered a good number of them, including:

In all those cases, we exposed gimmicky, misleading, and even dangerous products and trends in the kratom industry. It’s a competitive market, so it’s not surprising that many brands and businesses try to give their own kraom a unique ‘spin’ with a different name or slightly changed process. So, what about elephant kratom? Is it just another gimmick?

Elephant Kratom Isn’t a Scam, But It’s Probably Not All It’s Cracked Up To Be

As we discussed above, elephant kratom isn’t a scam. It’s known what elephant kratom is: it’s a kratom powder made from particularly large kratom leaves. If you use elephant kratom, you will still get the expected results.

But that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better.

These larger leaves are usually taken from exactly the same plant as traditional kratom powders, so the difference in alkaloid content is going to be very minor.

That said, some users do offer anecdotal reports that elephant kratom powders might be more effective. However, these are, of course, anecdotal, so there is not a strong scientific basis for the effectiveness of elephant kratom powders having a more substantial effect than other kratom products.

As is so often the case in the kratom world, it’s hard to tell the hype from the science — and only firsthand experience and a critical eye can answer the question for sure.
